Bishop of Ramsbury to be new Bishop of Ely |
The Prime MInister's office announced on 31 August that Bishop Stephen Conway has been nominated by HM the Queen to be the next Bishop of Ely.
Bishop Stephen will remain in the Diocese of Salisbury for some months yet, and will leave after Christmas. During that time he will continue his duties as acting bishop of Salisbury following the retirement of Bishop David Stancliffe in July.
He will be installed as Bishop of Ely towards the beginning of Lent, in February or early March.
Bishop Stephen said today, 'I am grateful to God for all the love and shared passion for mission and ministry I meet every day in Wiltshire and Dorset. When it is time to move to Ely I shall carry this joyfully into my new ministry in East Anglia.'
